Half Day Kuching Walkabout Tour & Borneo Cultures Museum

Kuching’s diverse attractions and Borneo’s rich culture are revealed on this exceptional half-day walkabout tour. Exploration on foot enables us to get a more personal interaction and it is also more sustainable. Our discovery commences at 8 am at the city’s waterfront, a lively and attractive esplanade situated along the south bank of the Sarawak River. We visit Tua Tek Kong Chinese Temple and the Chinese Historical Museum, where Fort Margherita can be viewed across the waterway. We will see attractive architecture built during the Brooke dynasty era, including the Round Tower, the Pavilion, the Brooke Memorial Monument, the Square Tower and the Old Court House. A stroll along Gambier Street reveals traditional spice shops on our way to Brooke Dockyard, passing the Old Fire Brigade Station, now known as the open-air market.

We then proceed through Merdeka Square to the fascinating Borneo Cultures Museum where we browse the exhibits without the guide. This is the largest museum in Malaysia, and it showcases varied indigenous cultures and Borneo’s amazing heritage, with interactive displays to enhance the experience. Half Day Semenggoh Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre

Semenggoh Wildlife Centre is the best place in Sarawak to view semi-wild orangutans who have been rescued from captivity and trained to survive in the surrounding forest reserve. The rehabilitated animals roam freely in the rainforest and return at feeding times and thanks to its successful breeding programme, there is a good possibility of experiencing one of the most heartwarming sights in Borneo of an orangutan mother with a young baby. Route
  • Duration: 3 hours, with departure at 7.30 am;

Half Day Sunset Kampung Ride with Hawker Food

Experience first-hand how the local people live by visiting a traditional Malay kampong. This is traditionally a small community, under the leadership of a penghulu (village chief), who has the power to hear civil matters in his village. A kampong usually contains a masjid (mosque) or surau, paddy fields or orchards and traditional Malay houses on stilts.

The villagers practice the culture of helping one another as a community, which is better known as the ‘joint bearing of burdens.’ They are family-oriented, especially the concept of respecting one’s family, particularly the parents and elders. While in the community, we will meet playful children after school, watch the younger people play sepak takraw and take in other village scenes. We then take a sampan ride back to the other side of the river and absorb the great sunset view of the Astana, the Dun Building and the mosque. Back on land, get ready for a classic hawker street dinner, including favourites such as Nasi Lemak, served on the waterfront.

Route
  • Duration: 3 hours, with departure at 4 pm and distance is 17 km;
  • Child age between 1 to 11 years old will get 50% discount from adult rate with minimum 2 paying Adults. They will be provided with Baby Seat or Child Bike;
